Summertime Part 2

The last weekend in July we headed out to the coast for a camping trip with some of Dave's engineering friends. Knowing we had a 4+ hour long drive ahead of us, Dave got off work an hour early so we could take off, hoping we could get there at a decent hour. We got into Seattle and had to wait two hours to catch a ferry. Got to love Washington summer traffic!

Ivar's is really close to the ferry dock so at least we were able to get some fish n' chips while we waited. It was a really pretty day although the seagulls were annoying.

You can see the ferry we originally wanted to take disappearing in the background.

We finally caught a ferry and while on it we realized that a girl that drove over from Pullman (who was not from the area) was on it too. We made arrangements to meet her at a gas station so she could follow us over. While we were waiting at the gas station, I got out of the car to get my water bottle. In doing so, I locked the keys in the car. Lucky for us we were on an Indian reservation and the security guy from the casino came and opened our door. We thanked him with a nice tip and we were off on the road again.

We ended up camping at a private campground on Ozette Lake. There was a three mile hike out to the ocean that we took. It was a really pretty beach. We saw lots of sea life, eagles, and even a decaying sea lion carcass (I didn't include the picture).

This is what most of the hike out to the beach looked like. It was all boardwalks with lush green forests.

The first weekend of August, Jared came up for a visit. One of the days we set up a campfire on the beach and made some foil dinners.

Miss Olivia being cute and entertaining the adults.
