Eddie Vedder in Seattle

I'm in the process to switching up the blog a little. You may notice that my sidebar has changed and there are new tabs on the top. I wanted to clean up the sidebar and I'm considering removing my friends and family tab. If any of you use it to look at blogs from it, I would like to introduce to you my friend called googlereader. It's awesome. One stop shop for blog updates.

Yesterday Dave and I went to Seattle for the day. We woke up to rain but by the early afternoon it started clearing up a little so we took off. We mostly walked around but we did stop by the Seattle Public Library. If you haven't been there before you should check it out. It's pretty awesome.

Top picture is a view from the outside, and the second is on the 10th floor. You can look out over an atrium and it makes the heart pound a little. It's pretty high up.

We then went out to dinner (good food but nothing to rav about) and after that we went to get some gelato. This was our first time having gelato and it was awesome. We went to a little shop called Gelatiamo, its right across the street from Benaroya Hall if you are ever in the area.

Next we headed to the big attraction, Eddie Vedder live at the Benaroya Hall. I will first start by telling you that Benaroya Hall is an amazing place to hear good music. The sound and acoustics are awesome.

When I first met Dave, I was introduced to a band called Pearl Jam. Don't make fun folks, I know they were one of the biggest bands of the 90's but come on, I was born in 86. I was still listening to Disney soundtracks when they made their debut. Dave on the other hand, was buying his first Pearl Jam cd at age 10. He's a big fan. Eddie Vedder (the lead singer) has been coming out with some solo albums over the last couple of years that I have enjoyed (check out Into the Wild Soundtrack or Ukulele Songs).

Remember what I said about the great sound quality in Benaroya Hall? Well combine that with a ukuele, an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, some string instruments, a couple duets, and you get a great concert. Seriously, I could go on, but I won't. I have a feeling most of you reading this are like "Okay Shan, we saw the facebook status, you had a good time. We get it."

But I'm going to end this post with a few videos of some of the songs I heard. It's really hard to take good quality videos at concerts plus we weren't allowed to so you get youtube videos.

This next one was recorded the at the concert the night before. He performed two shows in Seattle since the first one sold out really fast. He and Glen Hansard came out and sang it in front of the stage without amplification.

Eddie Vedder lives in West Seattle and this was his last show. He kept talking about how good it was to be home and how much he loves Seattle. It was cool to hear him say that about a city I grew up loving as well.
